This workshop was very enjoyable and I had got a lot farther explanation throughout the Jong Sau understanding. The energy application applied for techniques combined with the structure taught myself that space was very important also as well as also the timing aspect.

Working on some of the techniques and keeping true to the concepts of two line simultaneous defense and attack, controlling your center to not become distorted, and also protecting and covering the gates are things that were drilled in a very descriptive way that it made me feel comfortable learning.

The seminar emphasizes how important the concept of Hung Fa Yi is. If you don’t understand the concepts then you have nothing. You don’t have the system. Another that was emphasized is the Wing Chun is more than just trapping range or six gates. It is a complete system that focuses on maintaining your one line, center and balance, and controlling your opponent’s space or taking his space. But in the process you don’t have to lose your space, time and energy. The energy itself also is important without the proper focus on energy then your techniques are not going to work. So to sum it up one must be conscious of energy, time and space, loose any one then all is lost.

What did I learn at the workshop:

I learned more about the three track system approach of learning tactics, sans sau, energy, Si Gong shared the understanding of the nature of Wing Chun, being compete, practical direct, simple and reality here and now. We trained centerline and I felt control of my center after this workshop. We trained SNT Jong Sau progression and this gave me a better awareness of my space in movement. First I learned about controlling center then I had to control the movement and maintain center.

There were a lot of great hands on learning with Kung Fu family. This weekend moved me forward in so many directions to better understand HFY system. Thanks to Sifu and Si Gong for pointing the finger.

This weekend’s workshop really reinforced the Chan mindfulness during training that is essential for energy cultivation. Training methods such as Jong Sau and centerline Jong Sau start out as BM and TK training. But you really need to then progress to energy training via proper focus. The weekend’s events highlighted this for me.

Also, I always look forward to the end of the year celebration of Sifu’s B’day and school anniversary. It is always treat to take time out to celebrate but especially this year as Simo & Sifu prepare to add another child to their family.

The seminar covered Jong Sau and emphasized a conceptual approach. Much technical detail was provided as well. I’m still integrating much of the new material, so it’s difficult to give a meaningful conclusion, other than it was an extremely valuable learning experience.

The importance of body mechanics, technical detail and drilling the technical detail to integrate it and make it automatic was emphasized.

I am more mindful of how drilling inefficient body mechanics, integrating them and making them automatic could be detrimental.

I have enjoyed my visit very much. The seminar was helpful, yet humbling. I have learned a lot, but I feel that I’ve only scratched the surface. Your students have been very patient and helpful. I look forward to continuing my learning.

I enjoyed this experience. The total connection of all of the drills all the way through was a good method. The level of detail given was good. I find myself still gaining deeper knowledge through focusing on the concepts in the drills. I had a great experience with Chi Sau as I saw my Kiu Sao training came into play.

This was a good weekend experience and overview on SNT Jong Sau how it connects to the range of combat and other components in the system. The use of a flow chart to cover some of these examples is a good teaching tool, allowing students to see the inter-relationships of the system.

As always, the experience was well worth the time and training/feeling energy is always good. It was good to have the out of town students here, too.

With the school’s 17th anniversary party, the weekend was both memorable and enjoyable.

This workshop presented by Sifu Benny Meng with the assistant of my Si-Hings was one of the most insightful yet. One of the greatest benefits in the organized boxed categories on the discussion on Jong Sau. The method used to present this and other subjects reflects one of the best ways people can process and retain information. For me there wee also new practical training approaches to Jong Sau with the primary focus on occupying center, and utilizing forward energy. The concept on Heaven, Man, and Earth was made even more clear during the drilling excesses along with the transitional element added during some drills. Again, the added relationship to Chan and the reality of Saam Mou Kiu.
