Two students were inducted into the 10th generation of the Hung Fa Yi family tree. Richard Loewenhagen and Mike Mathews joined the Hung Fa Yi Boxer Society in a ceremony under Master Benny Meng, 9th generation granted by Grand Master Garrett Gee, 8th generation

- Chi Sim Weng Chun workshop and research activities
 
Sifu Andreas Hoffmann came to the VTM for 10 days to share his lineage with VTM researchers. Included in his visit was three workshops on Chi Sim Weng Chun, Chan Buddhism, training theory, forms, weapons, and kiuh sau (similar to chi sau in other Wing Chun lineages).

- Friendship Workshop at Sifu Mason's school
 
Sifu William Mason was host to an intra-school Friendship Exchange between his school and the VTM. The goal of these workshops was to broaden the experience and exposure to Wing Chun for the students of both schools. Sifu Meng covered the foundations of Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun including Time/Space and structure. He also presented the VTM's current research on Wing Chun history.

This two day workshop covered the first two levels of training in the Hung Fa Yi curriculum approved by Grand Master Garrett Gee.

- VTM Marathon workshop and Meng's Martial Arts 14th Year Celebration
 
This workshop covered the VTM's current research into Wing Chun along with system overviews of both the Yip Man and Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun lineages. This workshop also coencided with the celebration for 14 years of martial arts activity at Meng's Martial Arts, the host location of the Ving Tsun Museum.

- Michigan Friendship Workshop
 
This Friendship Workshop featured Sifu Eddie Chong of the Pan Nam/Yip Man Wing Chun lineage and Sifu Benny Meng of the Hung Fa Yi/Yip Man lineage. Together, these two Sifu presented the foundation of their respective lineages to a diverse group of Wing Chun practitioners.

- Ohio Friendship Workshop
 
This Friendship Workshop featured Sifu William Mason of the Yip Man lineage. Completing the second half of a workshop begun at Sifu Mason's school conducted by Sifu Benny Meng. Sifu Mason covered the foundations of Wing Chun, sharing his views on the Yin/Yang qualities of energy. He used the Yin/Yang concept to also explain a wide variety of training exercises and approaches to combat.

The first Friendship Workshop covered the latest research into Wing Chun history conducted by VTM staff. The second Friendship Workshop focused on the original concepts of the first form in the Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun System.

- Korea Trip
 
Members of the VTM traveled to several major cities in Korea on a Friendship Tour. Tour stops included the island of Je Ju, Inchon, Pusan, and Seoul. Among the sites visited were Buddhist temples, historical sites around Korea, three Korean Taekwondo programs at the college level in two different Colleges, and a private Taekwondo school. Tour participants learned about Korean culture, food, history, trained Taekwondo with National level martial artists, visited the Kukiwon, the world headquarters for Taekwondo, and visited the national Taek Kyun headquarters. Taek Kyun is a martial art different from Taekwondo that is indigenous to Korea.

- Hung Fa Yi Visit and Video Shoot (18th visit)
 
The primary purpose of this trip was to record four tapes in a video series with TC Media, publishers of Kungfu-Qigong Magazine. This video series will cover the Yip Man lineage as researched by the VTM. Also on this trip, members of the VTM spent time training in the Hung Fa Yi headquarters under the direct supervision of Grand Master Garrett Gee.

- Branch School Visit and Workshop by Benny Meng (12th visit)
 
Curator Meng covered two topics during the weekend. On Saturday, he covered the footwork and kicks in the Yip Man lineage. On Sunday, he covered the first level in Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun. On this trip, Curator Meng was joined by his family, Sunmi and Vincent.

- "3rd Public Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun" Workshop by Sifu Garrett Gee (19th visit)
 
This was the third public workshop to feature Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun in the 300 year history of this lineage. Material covered included a Luk Dim Bun Gwan Demonstration, discussion on the development of Chi Sau in the HFY lineage, Siu Lin Tau training, body mechanics, technical knowledge, and skill challenge development in HFY, Siu Nim Tau, don chi sau, Ng Sin Jong Sau, Laap Da, and Saam Jin Bou. This event coincided with the acceptance of two indoor students by Sifu Meng: Jeremy Roadruck and Wayne Schulz. These two students were inducted into the 10th generation of the Hung Fa Yi family tree. Both joined the Hung Fa Yi Boxer Society in a ceremony under Master Benny Meng, 9th generation granted by Grand Master Garrett Gee, 8th generation.
