- Meeting with VTAA and Ip Ching, Friendship Tour
of Hong Kong's Ving Tsun sites with Ip Ching
Curator Benny Meng met with Sifu Yip Ching to visit all the
locations used by Yip Man to teach Wing Chun. More material
was collected for the future book on Yip Man. Official interviews of Sifu Lay Hoi Song, Chu Shong Tin, Gu Sung, and Sam Lau were conducted by Curator Benny Meng.

and Friendship Tour of Futsan's Wing Chun with Ip Chun
Curator Benny Meng traveled throughout Hong Kong and southern
China with Sifu Yip Chun to gather information on Wing Chun
lineages in Mainland China.
The first official Wing Chun Association formed after the
establishment of Communist China is hosted at the Ching Mo in
Futsan. This association contains members from many different
Wing Chun lineages in China. Among the lineages contacted by
the VTM at the Ching Mo were Pan Nam, Yuen Kay-San, and Chan
Wah Shun.

Sifu Benny Meng and Sifu Augustine Fong both presented
workshops at this tournament. Sifu Meng covered Wing Chun
history and Sifu Fong covered Chi Sau and footwork. After the
workshop, Sifu Meng interviewed Sifu Fong. Sifu Fong gave his
strong support to the VTM and promised to help with its
mission.

 - "Friendship Seminar - 3rd Annual International VTM
Workshop" by, Special Guest Garrett Gee , Benny Meng,
Marty Goldberg , and Rene Ritchie

This was a Friendship Seminar giving participants a chance
to hear and see different lineages of Wing Chun
at the same time and place. At this workshop, Sifu Garrett
Gee introduced the Hung Fa Yi lineage of Wing Chun to the
public for the first time in its history. Each Sifu was given
time to speak about a particular area of his lineage and
participants were given time to interact and share as well.
The attendance increased from the first to the second
Seminar. Hopefully, this will be a continuing trend in the
Wing Chun community.

 - "Chi Sau Progression" and "5 Phases of Combat" by Benny Meng
The Workshops presented at the USAWKF dealt with two
different lineages of Wing Chun. The first workshop, Chi Sau
Progression, covered the development of Chi Sau used in the
Moy Yat/Benny Meng family. The second workshop covered the
five phases of combat as taught in the Hung Fa Yi lineage.
The five phases of combat are taught to provide an
understanding of tactics and strategy in hand to hand combat
range.

This series of events represented a first
in the global community of Wing Chun. The VTAA played host to more than
700 international visitors and many, many local participants in a two-day
workshop showcasing the Yip Man Lineage of Wing Chun. The VTAA also
sponsored and organized a tour of Southern China to include historic Wing
Chun sites.
The VTM acted as the official US representative
organizing the participation of 16 people from the VTM in addition to
coordinating the activities for US participants in Southern
China.
