- "Yip Man Ving Tsun System" by Yip Chun and Yip Ching
 
Trip to Chicago to get Yip Chun and Yip Ching

 
This trip included participation in a Workshop conducted by Sifus Yip Chun and Yip Ching. Afterwards, VTM staff escorted the two Sifus on a first-time tour of the American Mid-West via motor home. The tour concluded at the future site of the VTM for a Groundbreaking Ceremony and Friendship Exchange.

VTM Ground Breaking
 
- "Ving Tsun System" by Yip Chun and Yip Ching
 
- "Ving Tsun Kuen Kuit" by Moy Yat

 
This was the first time that three disciples of the late Sifu Yip Man gathered together to witness a Ground Breaking and conduct a workshop on Ving Tsun in Pan-America, the first Friendship Exchange hosted by the Ving Tsun Museum. Extensive interviews of each Sifu were conducted by Richard Loewenhagen and later published in Inside Kung Fu Magazine (December '96). Interview questions were carefully crafted by all members of the museum founding committee.

- Demonstration at 3rd World Wushu Championships
 
This was the first event organized by the VTM on an International level. After this event, the VTM was put in charge of future Wing Chun competition development on a national level.

Members of the VTM demonstrated Ving Tsun along with members of the New York Opera society while doing research into Opera history.

Along with meetings in New York, members of the VTM witnessed the opening of a Moy Yat branch school under the leadership of Sifu Miguel Hernandez.

Construction on VTM begins
 
Construction consisted of a $70,000 exterior expansion of the existing facility. An additional $95,000 was required later for interior museum construction.
