Sifu Wayne Schulz was born in West Germany in 1950. Sifu studied mechanical engineering and business at the University of Akron and Malone College. Sifu Schulz began his early training in Judo under Master K.S. Park, a 9 time World Champion, in the late Sixties.

In the fall of 1974, he was introduced to the Northern and Southern Shaolin System of Kwan Ying Do under Grandmaster Feeman Ong, a disciple of the Shaolin Temple. It was there that his roots would begin upon his acceptance as a Bai Si Student and be taught the various disciplines of Iron Palm, Iron Body, Weaponry, and a variety of Northern and Southern Shaolin open hand forms. During the mid-eighties, Sifu competed in various national competitions in fighting, open hand and weapon forms, and displayed various Qi Gong skills such as breaking bricks. In 1983, Sifu was one of the hosts who brought to the United States and Akron Ohio, the World Renowned Beijing Wushu Team; not only to perform, but also to host a one-day hand's on seminar, which featured weapons and open hand forms. In 1984, Sifu was also featured in the Who's Who of Martial Arts.

Even though Sifu had many successes, the untimely death of Grandmaster Ong, in 1983 caused Sifu Schulz to resume his quest for authentic martial arts. In late 1984, Sifu was introduced to Master Jou Tsung Wah, a renowned author, scholar, and master of Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan, who taught Sifu intermittently until an auto accident took his life in 2001.

Between the years of 1984 and 1997, Sifu devoted and rounded his education with various respected teachers and styles to gain and to further his knowledge in the art of the "True" Martial Arts.

Sifu has trained in various styles and disciplines with such renowned teachers and authors:
  1. Wushu - Yao Li, Boston, MA, a disciple of Grandmaster Chan Poi
  2. Yang Tai Chi - Joshua Grant, Boston, MA, 2 time US Champion and 1992 Gold Medallist
  3. Na - Yang Jwing Ming, Boston, MA, author, teacher, and philosopher
  4. Pa Fa Lin Wing Chun - Mok Poi On, Hong Kong
  5. J-Go Acupressure Institute - Received, Instructor Level, 1997, and Master Certification, 1999.
  6. Graduate of the VTAA Senior Instructor Certification Program, sponsored by the Ving Tsun Museum, featuring the following Grand Masters:
    1. Chu Shing Tin
    2. Moy Yat
    3. Yip Ching
    4. Yip Chun
  7. Attended Ving Tsun workshops by Grand Masters:
    1. Mark Po
    2. Moy Bing Wah
    3. Hawkins Cheung

In Early 1997, Sifu Schulz attended a Chin Na Seminar held by Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming in Memphis, TN. There he met a much younger, but very enthusiastic young man, Master Benny Meng, who wanted to share his knowledge in Wing Chun and his newly finished book. Sifu was very impressed by his tactical, as well as his intellectual maturity and approach to martial arts. As fate would have it in the spring of 1997, Sifu Schulz journeyed to Dayton, OH to continue their dialog that they started in Memphis. This trip was truly an eye opener for Sifu, as he tells us. Since that trip, Sifu Schulz, has had the honor and privilege to become a Baai Si Student under Master Meng in the Yip Man Ving Tsun System. After thirty years of searching for the true roots of martial arts, Sifu Shulz has found the missing pieces of the puzzle through his Sifu, Benny Meng and the system and science of Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun.

2001 was a momentous year for Sifu Schulz. He was given the opportunity to become one of the distinguished students to Baai Si under Master Meng, granted permission by Grand Master Garrett Gee, 8th Generation Successor of the Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun Lineage. This honor put Sifu Schulz as a 10th Generation Disciple, of Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun and its rich and honorable 350-year heritage. Sifu Schulz was recently permitted to open the 4th Hung Fa Yi School in the world located in Akron, Ohio, under his teacher Master Meng. The Grand Opening of the School is February 16th, 2002, also celebrating the Chinese New Year.
