Sifu Richard Loewenhagen is an accomplished leader, military scientist, martial arts teacher and writer. As a retired field grade military officer, he was trained at many of the most prestigious leadership, strategies, and tactics schools the United States Department of Defense has to offer, including the Air Force Institute of Technology, the Air Command and Staff College, and the Marine Command and Staff College. In 1982, the exclusive International Society of Logistics Engineers honored him with the 'Researcher of the Year' award. Sifu Loewenhagen began his journey into Wing Chun development under the careful tutelage of Master Benny Meng. The bond between student and teacher became so strong that Sifu Loewenhagen sought, and was granted, a traditional discipleship arrangement with his Sifu. Today, he is the most senior ranking disciple trained by Master Meng. Along the way of Wing Chun study, Sifu Loewenhagen achieved distinction as an indoor member of the Moy Yat Family and was awarded the highest level of teaching certification possible in the Yip Man Family - the Ving Tsun Athletic Association's Senior Instructor Certification. As one of the founding members of the Ving Tsun Museum and its current Director of West Coast Affairs, Sifu Loewenhagen's quest for Wing Chun knowledge remains perpetual. He is a prolific researcher and writer of material covering both historical and technical aspects of Wing Chun Kung Fu. His written works have appeared in virtually every major martial arts publication in the Western World. His research led him, along with many others, to identify with the ultimate Wing Chun reality - the Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun Family. Today he is honored to be an indoor member of that family and tradition. His school, Meng's Martial Arts of Arizona, is one of the largest full-time Wing Chun schools in the world and one of only four schools where Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun Kung Fu is taught to the public since it came out in 2001. return to top Today | Museum Information | Galleries | Reference Library | Community | Gift Shop ©Ving Tsun Museum 1997-2010 All Rights Reserved. last updated : October 13, 2006 at 5:41pm EST |
