I am very thankful that Way Yan shared the art of Weng Chun and even more important love and compassion to his students. Although I have not met him personally, I have witnessed the beauty of the flower he awakened in the heart of one of his students, Andreas Hoffmann. The flower that blossoms in his heart explains to me how Mr. Hoffmann is able to not only master Weng Chun but also the art of speaking through the heart. This means for me that Way Yan has passed on physical skills as well as mental and emotional skills and is this way connected with his ancestors and his successors. I think in a world of grief and disbelief, where money often counts more than moral and humility, Way Yan's heritage is the key to prevent us from our selfdestruction.

I wish his family the power and energy to be able to cope with the harsh loss of a member of their family.

Thank You, Way Yan.

Ich bin aber auch sehr sehr dankbar, das er das Erbe des Weng Chun weitergegeben hat, und mir (und vielen anderen auch) dadurch etwas sehr wertvolles gegeben hat.

Way Yan assembled the widespread members of a nearly forgotten art and so saved it from disappearing.
With his enthusiasm, energy, time and money he lay the foundation stone of a growing movement.
Many people now follow his footsteps on the path to master this ancient art.
It is a great honour to learn what he preserved.
We owe you thank and respect.

Wai Yan was one of the most important Grandmasters ever of our Kung Fu.
We owe Wai Yan a lot since without him our precious art would not exist.
As the founder of Dai Duk Lan and teacher of Andreas Hoffmann who brought
Weng Chun to many areas outside of China,he contributed extensively to the
distribution and maintenance of Weng Chun. In honour of Wai Yan,like other members of the Kung Fu family, I will care for the art of Weng Chun in Wai Yan's mind.

Thank you Wai Yan

The parting of Grand Master Wai Yan has deeply affected all of us.

Words alone are not worth enough to describe and appreciate
his achievements alongside with a few other Masters.

Since the destruction of the Shaolin Temple, Shaolin Chi Sim
Weng Chun Kuen had always been struggling for survival and was
handed down from generation to generation in secrecy.
Now at a time, where lifesytle in China is changing steadily but
surely, this invaluable Treasure of Shaolin seemed to have been
condemned to go down. It is even the efforts of a few great man who
despite all the turmoils taking place realized the moment of truth.

This fact alone deserves the very most respect and makes a legend
of him once more!!! The preservation of this unique Shaolin Treasure
benefits not only a small community of Weng Chun Practioners in
generations to come, but it is indeed an enrichment for the whole
mankind.

My deepest respect and honor to Grand Master Wai Yan
and warmest condolescence to his family.

Student of Sifu Winfried Zenk

The people say, if a man lose a leg or an arm, his mind will not realize it. So he will feel the lost arm or the leg as before. We lost the root of our today´s Weng Chun familiy, master Wai Yan.
I am sure, our mind will never realize it, because we feel, that he is present all the time. So master Wai Yan became after the winter of his physical life what he was his whole life: the real Weng Chun - the eternal Spring in the heart, the mind the body of the Weng Chun-familiy.
My special thanks belong to my sifu, master Andreas Hoffmann, because he made it possible to feel the eternal spring-spirit of master Wai Yan by practising our WengChun-KungFu.

Way Yan

Dear great wise man of Kung Fu
Formerly, I didn`t know much about You
I`ve only seen Your picture in the Kung Fu Court for several years
And now I have to cry some (spiritual) tears
I never met You, face to face
Didn`t feel Your embrace
But what I realize is that You
have given us to act
A wonderful gift through our exciting Sifu Andreas Hoffmann in fact
All the best of Your knowledge
is given to us in our "college"
In the name of Shaolin
A lot of "pupils" join in
And it is not only for fighting
But learning the rules for life and enlightening
You will remain in my heart
Due to this marvellous Weng Chun art
I thankfully remember the very
good feelings coming in
when Weng Chun Kung Fu brought me more sense and "spin"
Sometimes it prevented me from becoming mad
Now, that You have been gone is sad
But this is the world`s transforming
Energy neither can`t be lost nor be found, it is always a
changing
I`m sure that the heritage of Your life
Will grow and survive!

Sincerely,

Werner Müller

When I started to train Kung Fu, nearly one and a half year ago, I had no idea what Kung Fu is like.
But I always have been impressed of the skills of the old white bearded Kung Fu masters in the movies.
So I searched the internet for Kung Fu in Bamberg. And I think it was a stroke of luck that I have found the Weng Chun page. Than I started to train and I was deeply impressed of the energy wich was spread by my Sifu A.Hoffmann.
When I think of my Sifu and his great skills I´ll always remember that great man who made it possible for us to learn this fabulous art. Although I have never met him, the stories our Sifu tells us will keep him alive in my heart.

Sifu Philipp Hackert

condolence. it was a shocking news i received but after all,we have to accept that this would happen and that we have to give thanks to a person who contributed his knowledge to the individuals. i am a practitioner of the system but never had been incountered this humble person. my sifu only told me that the only lineage i can link my system to the root of shaolion is the person by the name wai yan. since then, there was not enough time to meet him but with the technology we had,it is my prevelege to know him. now that he passed away,my sincere condolence to his family and to the family of weng chun.

Wai Yan was one of the precious few great masters still with us, full of the strength of the art's past, and keen in its sharing for the future.

His loss is a tremendous blow to the family, tempered only in the knowledge that his great legacy is safe in the hands of Andreas Hoffmann, and ensured for generations to come.

With condolences,
